Love you my dear faerie friends!

Oh and it's only $18 for one day! Pretty good deal if you ask me!

Mark Ryden's Tree Show

Hifructose just covered Mark Ryden's new Tree Show gallery opening and the artwork in it was AMAZING! I'm an off and on fan of Ryden's but nothing in this show escaped me as even mediocre!

The frame around this one is absolutely brilliant! It's so completely out of a gothic fairy tale!

Gustaf Oskar Andersson Malme

Um....so I don't exactly know what this guy is all about....obviously he was a botanist. From what I can gather out of this German article, he existed sometime during the 1800's but further from that I cannot say.

The point is...this sort of botanical formatting is beautiful and although it's just a formal scientific catalogue, it's arranged and scribbled about on so thoughtfully.

The Glamour Of The Depression

Let me just start this off by showing you the most ridiculous clip you've ever seen. It's from the 1933 film "Gold Diggers" featuring Ginger Rogers singing "We're in the Money"

Next, onto pictures of those who held their heads up high...I don't think it's truly possible to be as glamourous as the women in the 30's...

Anyways, point is, Greer Honeywell makes highly original and incredibly exquisite artwork mixing shadows and hardware.

See here, See here.....(i feel awkward writing this....I've been watching Bridget Jones' Diary and unfortunately I have all these strange little brit words stuck in my head...well not unfortunately but wonderfully i guess)

Courtney Brooke Magic

I've never found a photographer who I've felt really passionate for. Never a photographer who I waited impatiently for their next role of film....that is until I found Courtney Brooke's flickr account.

Magic. Simply magic.

Unfortunately I'm not able to upload any of her photos on here but PLEASE PLEASE check her out you won't regret it.

Ach Ach Liebling

It's been haunting my Christmas lists for 2 years now...this beautiful, delicate necklace made my Ach Ach Liebling.

The artist is so talented and all her jewelry designs are incredibly unique and very heirloom-esque. Maybe you'll treat yourself to one. They are a tad on the expensive side but they look so cherishable don't you think? If you can't afford one yourself just add it to your list....maybe someone who loves you very very much will buy it for you one day..

Goldsworthy On A Sunny Day

Last Saturday...on the sunniest day Seattle has had in a long long time...I decided to take a little contemplation timeout at Gasworks Park.

The daises there inspired me and I thought of  the artist Andy Goldworthy who leaves behind organic pieces of art everywhere he goes.

Because of him I decided to make my own mark on the daisy patch sitting beside me. I encourage of all you to be so inspired by nature. Think about coming across some random patch of art someone had created before you. I think it would spread a lot of cheer.

Kaleidoscope Eyes

New blog found!! I'm really excited about this one...not exactly sure how I came across it but the point is that the heading reads, "SEARCHING FOR MAGIC IN UNEXPECTED PLACES"

it's beautiful and everything in it is beautiful.

Some highlights:

Artist Christopher David Ryan, a beautiful poppy polaroid, and some interior design ideas.

Protagonist

I don't know what to say...I just finished watching this film Protagonist. I really can't put into words the ways in which this film moved me. I hope all you who read this blog will rent it because it causes you to take a second look at yourself and your life in a deep and meaningful way.

After the watching the trailer again afterwards I realized that the director also did The Realms of the Unreal which was a wonderful documentary as well you might want to take a look at. Love you all! Enjoy.

Olofsdotter

I'm not quite sure how to put into words to absolute beauty of these illustrations.
Linn Olofsdotter creates illustrations, animations, and other products with her unique and jaw-dropping images. Voila!

Geo Magic

Geodes and crystals to me, are the most beautiful art forms found in nature. Nicole Wermers made some magical geological collages that I hope to share with all of you ....

Etsy Find: ArtPhotoGirl

This weeks Etsy Find is the mixed media supply shop ArtPhotoGirl. If you're looking for a source for cheap art supplies this is the place! Everything is vintage. It has antique books with beautiful illustrations, vintage photos, book illustration packages, and other mixed media ideas. PLUS everything is super cheap! Beginning around $2.50 I think to $14!

Angora Bunnies

So in my Textiles class today we learned about wool fibers.......one just so happened to be Angora, which if you didn't know, comes from a bunny rabbit that looks like this:

Popples anyone?

I've been working on my fairy puzzle for some weeks now...looking forward to the sense of accomplishment that comes with placing the last piece on the puzzle...
BUT! I now come to find that there is one puzzle piece that has gotten lost! How frustrating don't you think?

Cutest Babies of All Time: Clark & Michael

Etsy Find: Little Robot

So from now on I'm going to try and do a Weekly Etsy Find. I really want to support Etsy because it's an awesome market for home crafters both young and old. The prices are great, and in my experience (I did all my Christmas shopping here) the sellers make the whole deal very personalized. I've gotten handwritten letters, decorated manila envelopes, magnets, buttons, lollipops, all kind of things!

Little Robot is definitely my favorite Etsy shop. "Little Robot" is a 30 year old woman from Glasgow, Scotland and does beautiful puppets, illustrations, paintings, and prints. She is always coming out with something new and exciting. Although the prices are a little more expensive than most other sellers, the artwork is definitely worth it.

Stonehenge Historical Dig

"Archaeologists began a historic dig on Monday which they hope will unlock the ancient secrets of Stonehenge once and for all."

Read this Telegraph news article to find out the exciting news!

Style Bytes

One last post for the day I PROMISE! I'm just so excited to share with you all these ideas for procrastination. You can be just like me and get a mediocre GPA...Yay!

So here are two sample images from my all time favorite fashion blog Style Bytes.

Agathe Bjornsdatter is a beautiful beautiful woman who lives with her husband and little pet piggie in Norway. The wonderful thing about her blog is that not only does she model style ideas, but there are also DIY ideas that are actually very realistic.

Art Deco: Celebrating The Jazz Age

Last quarter I took a Costume History course at school. When researching for a project about the 1930's I came across this Art Deco blog. It's updated quite regularly and therefore never stops being entertaining.
I HAD to post this vintage pin-up photo. It's hilarious! So cute!

I Love You, Alice B. Toklas!

Okay so I just found this film randomly on Netflix this week and it ended up really cute. Think The Graduate mixed with Harold and Maude...it rests on more of a superficial plot line than those...but it IS filled with a Simon & Garfunkel-esque soundtrack, pot brownies, and flower children. Check it out if you're not a hippie hater!

Every day I check up on my favorite artist's blogs. Every once in a while they each allow me to see into their world of gallery openings and mid-creative processes. It's the greatest feeling to find a new artwork posted...this usually ends up as my desktop background for a few weeks. Gelaskins has even gotten in on the action, and all three artists have laptop and iPod skins available!
Audrey Kawasaki: Okonomide
"The themes in Audrey's work are contradictions within themselves. Her work is both innocent and erotic. Each subject is attractive yet disturbing. Audrey's precise technical style is at once influenced by both manga comics and Art Nouveau. Her sharp graphic imagery is combined with the natural grain of the wood panels she paints on, bringing an unexpected warmth to enigmatic subject matter.
The figures she paints are seductive and contain an air of melancholy. They exist in their own sensually esoteric realm, yet at the same time present a sense of accessibility that draws the observer to them. These mysterious young women captivate with the direct stare of their bedroom eyes."
Amy Sol: Blog
"Though the style of her work is greatly influenced by a combination of manga, folk-art, vintage illustration, and modern design, she remains a self-taught artist...Within these delicate works, you may often find whimsical landscapes populated with exotic plants, animals, and females. Amongst the expressions of each character are notions of peaceful reflection and a sense of companionship."

Stella Im Hultberg: In Spite Of All

Introduction

Truthfully I'm not sure I can successfully keep up with updating a blog regularly...I mighht even forget I have one within the month! But I promise I will try my hardest because I really have a lot to say.

Some of my goals for this blog are to give you all some great film rental ideas since I'm a Netflix addict...I probably go though 2 films a week...which, when you think about it is a bad idea since it's more of a procrastination tool.
I also love keeping up with some really awesome arts & crafts blogs that I think are worth sharing with the world.

I just realized that writing about my "goals" for this blog is really not that interesting...it's going to be really longgggg...I'd really rather just keep this short and sweet so that I can just do what I want to do and you can get on with your life.

I love you. Read on my friends.
