Etsy Blog: New There's No Place Like Home

I love when Etsy posts little videos of artists in their homes! It's always so inspirational and personal that immediately afterwards I find myself wanting to reinvent my own place. This week the creators of the blog The Snail and the Cyclops, Alice Saunders (Forestbound) and Francesca Zmetra (Thirteen Eighty-Five) let us into their flea market filled home. I love Alice's wood crates and frames that she uses in so much of her decor and Francesca's walls filled with delicate vintage clothing on hangers was gorgeous. Enjoi!

Etsy Find: Chipmunk Cheeks

Who wouldn't love the flowery illustrations of Katie Vernon from her Etsy shop Chipmunk Cheeks?! They're so cheerful and folksy I would love to frame one in a gaudy gold frame don't you think? Cheers to design*sponge for the link!

Rosie O'Donnell's Etsy Shop???

What the...??? Did you all know that Rosie O'Donnell has an Etsy shop? Cause I just found out...and I'm kind of REALLY weirded out by it. Especially since in all her product photos she's lurking in the background super creepy.
Her crafts are definitely not typical of what I would expect from her but some are kinda neat and the profits do go to her charity...but still Rosie, don't pretend you're some indie craft artist who's in her 20's and spells "you" as "u" and uses no punctuation. Please? It's off putting.

And that's the end of my rant of the day...thank you!

Etsy Find: Something's Hiding Here

Thanks to my good friend Moorea's blog The Rumination Room, I've happened upon the most wonderfully inspirational set of people I've heard of in quite some time.
The Etsy shop Something's Hiding Here is a mesh of creations from Shauna & Stephen who just HAPPEN to be the coolest couple ever. Their studio is so amazing I just can't believe how creative these people are. Luckily, we can all share in a bit of the magic by watching their recent interview with the Etsy video team featured below!

Also, as I went about exploring their blog and shop I was wonderfully inspired by these glittered up elephant figurines. So inspired in fact that I plan on making  some of my own for my new shadow box yay!

N.E.E.T March '09 Issue

Yay so happy that N.E.E.T online magazine has just put out a new issue for March '09! The last one was put out in December and since then I've been growing a little impatient to be honest. But now all that is behind me...check out the newest issue here!

If you're not yet familiar with N.E.E.T magazine, it's a independent virtual collection of all the best new Etsy finds, vintage clothing shops, and odds and ends, plus every month the fashion spreads just get better and better in my opinion. My experience with N.E.E.T is that I NEVER go away without finding at least 10 new crafters to watch and drooling over at least a dozen vintage dresses I'd love to own. And the best part is that whenever you seen something you like, just click on the link and it will open in a new page so you can shop and browse the mag at the same time! So go go go right now and you'll be so happy you did.

Etsy Find: Gingerkate

Ever since I fell in love with Audrey Kawasaki's paintings on wood, I've been especially enamored of any artist who uses the natural grain of the wood in their artwork. It just seems like the unique designs found on tree trunks are the most beautiful in the natural world!

I stumbled upon Gingerkate through Etsy who sells her collaged wood plaques for only $15-20!! What a great steal. I'm waiting for new items in her shop because it seems like it's a little empty now but if you're keen on handmade jewelry Gingerkate makes some pretty special necklaces as well.

Plus check out her Flower collaged sets here on her Flickr account! I want the poppy one so bad!

Etsy Find: Moorea Seal Designs

This week my friend Moorea's Etsy shop SEA.L Designs just opened! Things are moving soooo fast in her shop I'm so happy for her. But I also was going to be pissed if the necklace I wanted was bought before I got to it.

Luckily, it was still there last night so I was able to buy this gorgeous Sparrow Feather Necklace! On a vintage gold chain and with a hand painted design by Moorea, it's a great steal at only $20.

So get to it before everything is gone!

Etsy Find: Unicorns

I love unicorns. I'm not a horsey girl either (aka the girls who always played horses at recess) so don't think I love them just because its a horse with a horn.

Unicorns have very practical uses such as counteracting poisons and curing epilepsy. They are also saviors for only children with vivid imaginations like me.

All of the below items are found on Etsy ...

-Unicorn Print, Studio Lyon

-Unicorn Cat Horn, Bridget 85

Etsy Find: Temporary Tattoos

Lately I've been obsessed with the temporary tattoos that are taking a whole new wearable turn. I just bought some amazing ones from the sellers Molly Murphy and Electrik Pink Pirate. From Molly Murphy I bought this beyond beautiful illustration of a sailor girl. And from Electrik Pink Pirate I bought 4 elvish tattoos! Super nerdy of me I know but you HAVE to admit that elvish is super beautiful to look at right?
